New Zealand offers multiple visa options for international students who wish to study, train, or attend short courses. Whether you want to attend school, university, or vocational training, there’s a suitable New Zealand Study Visa for you.
As a Licensed Immigration Adviser in New Zealand, I assist with all types of study visa applications, ensuring compliance with Immigration New Zealand (INZ) requirements.
There are several visas that allow study, depending on your goals and course duration.
Study for up to 3 months in any 12-month period.
Ideal for short courses, English language study, or holiday study programs.
School-aged children can study up to 3 months in any calendar year on a Visitor Visa.
Holders of a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) can also study for up to 3 months.
If you are 18–30 years old (or 18–35 for citizens of specific countries), and from a country with a working holiday agreement, you may apply for a Working Holiday Visa New Zealand.
This visa lets you:
Work and study in New Zealand.
Study 1 or more courses for up to 6 months.
Take English language courses, Study Abroad programmes, or short training courses.
Primarily visit New Zealand for a holiday, with study being a secondary purpose.
If you intend to study in New Zealand for more than 3 months, you must apply for a Student Visa.
Requirements:
A valid offer of place from an approved New Zealand education provider.
Proof of tuition fee payment and financial support.
Health and character checks, if required.
This visa allows you to:
Study full-time at a school, university, polytechnic, or training institute.
Work part-time during studies (subject to visa conditions).
